Nvidia has announced plans to invest in four German startups, reinforcing its commitment to Europe's artificial intelligence sector. The announcement was made at the Invest in Germany Summit in Berlin on Monday, where the U. S. chipmaker highlighted its nearly $10 billion pledge to support companies, universities, and research institutions across Europe.

The startups set to benefit from Nvidia's investment include Agile Robots, Avelios Medical, Mirelo, and Reflex Aerospace. Agile Robots focuses on AI-powered solutions for manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare, while Avelios Medical develops AI-driven hospital management software. Mirelo is known for creating AI models that generate audio for videos, and Reflex Aerospace specializes in designing and building satellites. Although Nvidia did not disclose the specific investment amounts, the move signals a significant push to bolster Germany's industrial AI capabilities.

At the summit, Chancellor Friedrich Merz emphasized the importance of AI for Germany's economic future. He urged businesses, particularly small- and medium-sized enterprises, to leverage the data they already possess. "Please open your doors for AI to make use of your data, " Merz stated, highlighting the potential advantage for Germany in utilizing existing data resources. He identified manufacturing, machinery, and the automotive industry as key sectors for AI integration.

Echoing Merz's sentiments, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang underscored Germany's strengths in manufacturing, mathematics, and science, asserting that AI would enhance rather than replace these capabilities. "AI can only augment your capability, it will not replace your capability, " Huang remarked, describing AI as a new tool for businesses to harness.

Industry Collaboration and Expansion

Nvidia is also expanding its collaboration with the German federal government through the "Industry 4.0 Platform." This initiative brings together representatives from government, industry, research, and trade associations to accelerate the adoption of industrial AI. A joint declaration of intent was signed on Monday to advance AI models for industrial applications.

In a related development, Siemens announced new AI solutions developed with Nvidia at its Erlangen factory. These technologies promise to reduce engineering work involved in production preparation by up to 85% and cut production planning costs by as much as 20%.

Earlier, Huang visited France, where he announced investments in four French startups and met with President Emmanuel Macron to discuss AI development. He is scheduled to deliver a keynote address in Berlin on Wednesday.
